Exciting News About the Future of Tatooine Sons!

It’s a new era for Tatooine Sons. Last week, we made a GALACTIC CHANGING announcement that is blowing minds. Now that we’ve had a chance to breathe, we’re sharing the whole story. But before we get to that, we’re talking about classic characters coming to the Rogue One series, big news about The Mandalorian, and a fan favorite comic book character is getting a Dooku-level treatment.

It's TIME for Tatooine Sons!

HOT TAKES!

The Mandalorian will be coming back for a third season. Another strong, female leader will be featured in the Rogue One Disney+ Series. And a fan favorite Star Wars comic book character is getting the mainstream treatment this Summer. It’s time for Hot Takes.

Season 3 of The Mandalorian is Already Being Planned for Disney+!

(Source: Variety.com)

The October premiere date for Season 2 of The Mandalorian may still feel like it’s far, far away, but pre-production has already begun on a third installment of the wildly popular Disney Plus series, Variety has learned exclusively. Sources close to the production have confirmed that creator Jon Favreau has been “writing season 3 for a while,” and that the art department, led by Lucasfilm vice president and executive creative director Doug Chiang, has been creating concepts for Season 3 “for the past few weeks.” “We’ve just started pre-production and are looking into further adventures for the Mandalorian in Season 3,” revealed one source. In addition, another source with knowledge of the situation confirmed that the production design department began working on season 3 on April 20, pointing to the fact the department requires “such a huge lead time” to explain why “the gears have started grinding really early on.”

Samuel the Hutt and BB-N8 are both VERY excited that The Mandalorian will be continuing for AT LEAST three seasons! They discussed why The Mandalorian has such universal appeal in a fandom that is often harshly divided. Samuel the Hutt believes that there are two major reasons for this: Baby Yoda and fan service (in a good way). BB-N8 expounded on the idea that The Mandalorian is pure Star Wars that isn't depended on the Skywalker Saga.

The Yet-To-Be-Named Rogue One Series for Disney+ is Bringing Back a Very Important Character

(Source: HollywoodReporter.com)

Genevieve O'Reilly and Denise Gough have joined the cast of Disney+'s untitled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel spinoff series. The series centers on Cassian Andor, who was the Rebel intelligence officer in Rogue One. Diego Luna is reprising the role for the series, which is set five years before the events of the 2016 movie. (As we discussed last week) Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller are also cast. O'Reilly will return to her role as Mon Mothma, the politician who worked to oppose the Empire and helped found the Rebel Alliance. Character details for Gough were not revealed.

The Bow Tie Jedi Guy went down the "history rabbit hole," discussing the formation of modern Israel, and the conflict between two groups vying for control: one trying to build a coalition, another using full-on terrorist tactics to drive out an "oppressive Empire." He asked BB-N8 and Samuel the Hutt if they would like to see this type of conflict between an Alliance being formed by Mon Mothma (played by Genevieve O'Reilly) and a group of "Freedom Fighters" (a.k.a. terrorists) led by Saw Gerrera (played by Forest Whitaker? Both think seeing this conflict would be a really interesting way of developing how an Empire could be defeated.

Doctor Aphra is Getting a MAJOR Push Into the Star Wars Consciousness

(Source: StarWars.com)

The doctor is in once more! StarWars.com and This Week! In Star Wars are excited to reveal Doctor Aphra: An Audiobook Original, an expanded adaptation of the kinda good, kinda bad archaeologist’s introduction in Marvel’s Darth Vader series. In the story, Aphra makes a deal with the Sith Lord — never the best idea — and begins a memorable (mis)adventure. Written by Sarah Kuhn, the audio drama will feature a full cast and include new scenes with some familiar faces. (And we’re sure that murder-droids Triple Zero and Bee Tee will be just as — if not more — frightening in audio form.) Doctor Aphra: An Audiobook Original will be available for download everywhere audiobooks are sold on July 21.

Could this audio drama be setting up a transition for Doctor Aphra into LIVE ACTION? Samuel the Hutt believes it's a bit of a stretch to see that happen. But BB-N8 thinks this is EXACTLY what Lucasfilm is doing (see announcement about Leslye Headland of Russian Doll).

Tatooine Sons: A Star Wars Podcast announces an exciting partnership with Facebook

Tatooine Sons is launching a 10 episode EXCLUSIVE series on Facebook Watch beginning on May 4, 2020.

Tatooine Sons: A Star Wars Podcast is an intergenerational conversation about life, values and character through the lens of Star Wars, hosted by David Jesse and his two sons, Sam (18) and Nathan (14). The audio podcast launched in December of 2017, and has attracted a passionate following of listeners after Nathan asked Rian Johnson, writer/director of The Last Jedi, a question that eventually changed Star Wars history (SEE VIDEO HERE). Now, Tatooine Sons is excited to announce a partnership with Facebook to produce 10 video episodes of their immensely popular show, to be distributed weekly on the Facebook Watch platform beginning May 4, 2020 - the unofficial “Star Wars Day.”

Facebook Watch is a place to discover and enjoy video on Facebook. Facebook’s goal is to incubate the video ecosystem by working with partners like Tatooine Sons to build a predictable programming calendar. Facebook enables and gives partners the freedom to experiment and flex in the ways they know best. Home to a wide range of video – from scripted comedy and drama, to competition and reality series, to individual creators and live sports – Facebook Watch is a destination where content, community and conversation come together. This is a personalized viewing experience, where viewers can discover new content based on what their friends are watching, and catch up on the shows they follow. Facebook Watch is available for free on mobile apps across Apple and Android, on desktop, laptop and on TV apps listed HERE.

Tatooine Sons: A Star Wars Podcast produces a weekly show that addresses the latest in Star Wars news, rumors, and speculation in a family-friendly, positive manner. The show is most widely known throughout the Star Wars fan community for the #MakeTerbusCanon campaign - which resulted in the porg named by Nathan to be featured in the all-ages comic book series Star Wars Adventures, Issues 27-29 (October - December 2019).

“Sam, Nathan and I are thrilled to be partnering with Facebook to create exclusive, uniquely community-oriented content for Facebook Watch that drives meaningful conversations about something that we love so much - Star Wars. As a dad, I’ve been using a ‘galaxy far, far away’ to teach Sam and Nathan about hope, justice, redemption and other life-lessons for years. When we started Tatooine Sons, it was natural for those “dad moments” to find their way into the show. And we’re honored that parents, grandparents and other adults are listening to our show and sharing those lessons with the kids in their lives. Now, through the Facebook Watch platform, our fans can join the conversation by viewing along with others, interacting within our Facebook page and group, and even connecting directly with us on a daily basis,” said David Jesse, the host and founder of Tatooine Sons.

On May 4, 2020, Tatooine Sons is officially launching their Facebook Watch series with a LIVE event commemorating the unofficial “Star Wars Day,” (also known as “May the 4th Be With you”) beginning at 8pm ET / 5pm PT. Topics for this LIVE broadcast will focus on the series finale of the animated series, The Clone Wars, the launch of the new behind the scenes documentary series on Disney+, Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, along with discussion about the latest Star Wars news. Following this LIVE event, the series will be released in a video on demand (VOD) format on Facebook Watch each Monday at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT.
